I know very little about hunting, and was somewhat surprised to hear some people claim that hunters getting shot is no big deal and happens all the time, even to careful hunters. I don’t want to make this a political question, but for those of you who know something about hunting: assume that this accident happened to three regular guys, not the Vice President and his friends. How seriously would they take it? What would normally happen after such an accident? What would their fellow hunters think of it? I have heard that there are specific safety rules that should be followed in quail hunting; do you know what they are? Do you think they were being followed?
If this was not the vice-president, then the shooter, accidently or not, would be fine! Apparently, he did not have a license to shoot quail. If a regular joe was to go shooting and just aimed and fired without at least checking to see if SOMEBODY was in fron of the gun, that is a fine, revoked license, and depending on the state their in and the injuries, a possible jail term or probation. I doubt seriously that anybody would want to be in front of a loaded gun and be shoot from behind. If this was an accident, then Dick should have his license revoked immediately! no questions asked! But, he’s the f’ing vice-pres. That is not going to happen. Well, maybe not yet anyway. Things can happen. The man did suffer a heart attack! He may die. That’s involuntary manslaughter! I wonder if he would be charged if he died…………

What is a good quail hunting dog?
My uncle enjoys hunting quail (and pretty much any other game), and is finally looking into getting a dog to help him. What would you recommend?
Spaniels and Setters make good Quail dogs. But I’ve also seen Weimaraner’s work well on these birds. Or you could go classic and get an English Pointer, this is "the dog" used to hunt quail in the south.
Good Luck, and don’t forget that training a good bird dog can be expensive if you have it done by a professional.
