well i live in texas and everybody and i do mean everybody as this
Hair:either bright blonde highlights or dye it dark brown and dye the bottom half bright red
Shoes:moccassins or slip on black vans
Clothes: skinny jeans and skin tight shirts
Accesories:i love boobies bracelets, and HUGE hoops

For girls –
Hair: Usually down and straight
Shoes: Either Uggs, combat boots, Converse, Vans, or canvas shoes such as TOMS or ones from Urban Outfitters.
Clothes: Skinny jeans, off the shoulder tops, v-necks, crop tops, leggings, high waisted shorts/skirts, peacoats, cardigans, hoodies, huge sweaters, graphic tees

That’s what I usually see.

A bunch of us ladies are going there for the 1st time, for a long weekend, and would like to know if anyone has some personal recommendations for restaurants, bistros, etc.. that aren’t TOO expensive or hard to get into. We’re staying near Times Square. Also areas or shopping districts, clubs, etc.. where we might easily catch glimpse of a celebrity or 2 milling around? (Any other NYC tips appreciated!) Thanks!

fun restaurants: La Palapa on St. Marks in the east village (yummy mexican with great margaritas), Freeman’s Alley on the lower east side (there will be a wait but the cocktails are delicious), Dos Caminos SoHo on Houston (mexican; celebrities are often spotted there). These restaurants aren’t tourist traps, they’re local spots.

avoid times square altogether, except to go to back to the hotel room. you will only see tourists there.

to shop, SoHo or Bloomingdales area (there’s an H&M, Urban Outfitters, etc)

to spot celebrities, go to the west village…

tip: don’t tell the cab driver you’re a tourist. Houston Street is pronounced HOWston NOT pronounced like the city in Texas

those are your best bet. another way is to just look around for clothes similar to them and try to re-create the outfit or make up something similar, yet your own.

Hello! I am about to make a move from Texas to Alaska (military move), and would like some input on clothing stores. I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for clothing besides LL Bean or Lands End. Both websites are great, and I have already ordered from them, but I want some more possibilites! I am having a hard time finding stores that have the winter rated clothes. Thanks in advance!

Are you being stationed in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Delta Junction? It gets a bit colder in the Interior than in Anchorage.

Here are a couple of web sites for cold weather gear. Take a long look at your feet! Boots are critical here!

I recommend Northern Outfitter Boots. I have had mine for more than 15 years, and been in temperatures near -100 degrees and never been cold (at least my feet). They are certainly not a fashion statement, but at least you won’t get cold!

The closest one I could find was in Savoy. It’s called the outfitters are called Affordable Hog Hunts. LOL, but it still cost quiet a bit, and they use dogs with some crazy rules so you will have to check it out to see if that is something your might consider.
