Hi, i am 13 and wear a size 6.5 boot. I was wandering what kind of boots i should get for working in the field, riding 4-wheeler, and just using for this summer. I live in MN so it can get pretty hot during the summer months. I would also like to wear these for Pheasant hunting next fall. I want a leather lace-up work boot. Thanks alot!

There are many products of great quality you should check out, such as Timberland, Wolverines or Corcoran. In my opinion, Timberland are nice, comfortable, light weight, and have ankle support. I’m sure that you will find among their boots one that is your size and has an affordable price. If you want, you can find out more information about pheasant hunting at http://www.pheasanthuntinginfo.com/.

Yeah they are good listeners and great retrievers (hence the name). Females are easier to train than males. Not sure why though =^(
They are bred for upland game like pheasants, ruffed grouse, and waterfowl.

I’m going pheasant hunting would like to know if i should buy 20 gauge or a 12 gauge?

Loaded question my friend. I hunt normally with a 20 gauge benelli cordoba, and so does my wife. We use 3 inch shells with #6 shot and full chokes for pheasant. Most people will tell you to use a 12ga. and they are just as right as I am. Some will argue that a 12ga. is more useful than a 20. But I beg to differ, I have killed every type of fowl that walks or flies with a 20ga. and a ton of quail with a .410. My 20′s are much lighter than my friends 12′s and I kill just as much game. I also shoot competitive trap and did use a 12ga. browning BT-99, but I then went to shooting in 20ga. classes. I just enjoy it more. Always remember to decide for yourself and no matter what you choose. Practice, Practice, Practice.

I have a major problem when it comes to shooting guns, I am right handed but left eye dominant. So for me to even ADS I have to shoot left handed, I don’t have any problems with the shell discharge going through my face but it just feels so unnatural and I can barley hit a target when I go skeet shooting. I have tried for a while now to close my left eye and keep my right eye open but I can’t. Do you have any suggestions, like a certain gun might help me or something like that. I really need to start figuring this out because I got a new hunting puppy and want to go pheasant hunting when she is older.

For a shotgun with moving targets, you have to shoot with both eyes open to be able to hit much. Your dominant eye must be aligned with the barrel for it to work best. Learn to shoot left handed. My oldest son is left eye dominant and right handed. Luckily I noticed that before he started shooting a firearm at the age of 5. I always made him shoot left handed until he was 15. Now he occasionally shoots targets right handed, but when he is hunting and operating on instinct, he always shoots left handed. Keep practicing left handed and it will become second nature. You will be a better shot for the additional work.

We just recently bought several acres of grassy land to build a house on. My fiancee and I are hunters and are tickled to see pheasants quite regularly on our property. I would love to pheasant hunt, but the dog I would love to see in my future is a Corgi. I know they are herding dogs, but does anyone know if it is possible to train a Corgi to flush and retrieve pheasants? I’m not sure if they have enough natural instinct to do it or not, so any information would be greatly appreciated.

Highly unlikely. For hundreds of years, Corgis have been used as all-purpose farm dogs. They were bred to herd, and guard the farmyard (read bark at intruders) and catch small vermin. They are not hunting dogs. If you want a hunting dog, get a breed that has been bred for that purpose.

They can excel at agility, herding and sometimes tracking. Don’t expect them to do something they have absolutely no instinct for.

Anyone who tells you any dog can be trained for any task knows very little about purebred dogs or genetics.
